Deplin® (L-methylfolate) is a medical food dispensed by prescription. It is used only under medical supervision for the dietary management of depression. Medical foods are regulated by the F.D.A. and address nutritional needs related to a disease state that cannot be met with diet alone. Some people with depression may have an imbalance of L-methylfolate levels in their brain. Deplin® helps manage levels of L-methylfolate needed by some individuals with this imbalance to produce important chemicals linked to mood (serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.)

Deplin® provides the brain with the needed L-methylfolate to make the brain a better “partner” to the antidepressant your doctor has prescribed.

Your questions answered:

What is Deplin®?

Deplin® is a medical food containing 7.5 or 15 of L-methylfolate. L-methylfolate is the active form of folate needed by some individuals who, because of a genetic condition or otherwise, cannot get the levels needed to produce the important neurotransmitters associated with mood: serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine.
